Sherrill Stroschein

Dr. Sherrill Stroschein is Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Politics and Programme Coordinator of the MSc in Democracy and Democratisation at University College of London, UK. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University (2000), and was previously an Academy Scholar at the Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies (2003-2005) and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at Ohio University (2001-2005).
Her research examines the politics of ethnicity in democratic and democratising states, especially democratic processes in states with mixed ethnic or religious populations. She has published articles in Nations and Nationalism, Political Science Quarterly, Voluntas, and Ethnopolitics, and recently had an edited volume appear: Governance in Ethnically Mixed Cities (Routledge 2007). In addition, she has completed a book manuscript on protest as a means for Hungarian minorities to influence policy outcomes in Romania, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
She is a longstanding ASN member and has been Programme Chair of the annual conference in New York since 2006.
